I'm Hwajung Hong, an Assistant Professor in the department of Communication at Seoul National University. I also manage the Information Science and Culture program at SNU. I'm interested in design and social computing with a focus on healthcare and accessibility. I lead the DxD (data, interaction, design) lab where we focus on designing systems that empower individuals and crowds toward creativity and connectivity. We have published on this in leading conferences like ACM CHI, ASSETS, CSCW and Pervasive Health.

In 2015-2018, I was an assistant professor at UNIST. I earned Ph.D. from in Human-Centered Computing and M.S. from Human-Computer Interaction at Georgia Tech with Dr. Gregory Abowd and Dr. Rosa Arriaga. I have also worked on UX design and research to tackle real-world problems at Palo Alto Research Center, Microsoft Research, LG, and Motorola.

I like theories, mixed methods, DIY tools, and a green tea frappuccino with a shot of espresso.
